Our Softer, Easier-to-clean Mat Surface

  
In September of 1998, we introduced a "NEW and improved WONDERMAT®" that featured this new surface texture:

This was something that parents had been asking us to do for many years, primarily for two reason: First, the original texture was hard to clean because the surface was rough and had indentations that trapped water; and second, that because the mat surface was a little bit rough, they didn't think it felt very good on their kids knees when they were crawling around.

After six months of "test marketing" this new surface in various market segments without one single complaint, and a lot of positive comments, we began converting our entire product line over to this new texture.  As has happened here often over the years, the opinions of children and parents prevail to make a better product.

We changed the texture, not the interlock style or thickness. 
100% compatible with all authentic Wondermat® products sold since 1992...

Nothing wrong with the old "net" embossing, but our surface texture does feel softer, it looks great and it is MUCH easier to clean.

Instead of having little depressions in the mat to create the non-slip surface (and collect dirt), our new design uses small raised diamonds in a flower pattern.  The new texture is available now in all of our floor covering product, and our most popular toy products.
