MAT SELECTION / INSTALLATION COMMON SIZES CUSTOM MATS

Regardless of the product type and tile size you choose, there are two basic approaches to covering your exhibit space with Wondermat® flooring products.  The modular nature of our flooring system lends itself to creating simple, easy to adjust mats that don't require any cutting on site, or for more exact applications, the material is easily cut on site to exact dimensions. 

ADJUSTABLE  MATS
 The most common method of fitting a given space is to use full tiles to fill the bulk of the space, and then wrap these with our 4-inch wide borders to the maximum extent possible in the given space.  This creates an ADJUSTABLE mat that lets you go slightly under or slightly over the desired dimension by removing or adding rows of borders. (See Below)
CUSTOM CUT MATS
 The other approach is to simply cut your mat to the exact dimensions that you have designed your booth too, or the space you find during set-up.  Easily accomplished by using a mat with borders on two sides, which will generally make a mat slightly larger than desired, and trimming the tiles at the opposite side of the borders to your exact dimensions .

  EXAMPLE OF AN ADJUSTABLE  MAT:
Using a common 10' x 10' exhibit space as an example, note the effect of adding and removing our 4-Inch wide borders to the overall mat dimensions.

Four inches can add up!  Our standard border system is only 4 inches wide, but even on a small 10 x 10 mat, if the space provided lets you put borders all the way around your mat (full 10.5 x 10.5), you gain an extra 11 square feet.  Not a bad deal if you are paying hundreds of dollars per square foot for the space.

 

INSTALLATION TIPS

Nothing looks worse (to us) than seeing center isle carpet, a strip of concrete and then our mat.  Ideally you should try to get your mat to be right up against any carpet in the center isle and let the dead space be on the back or side of your space, where it can be hidden by your display fixtures or drop curtains.

If you are using sloped borders, you can use a piece of two sided carpet tape or duct tape on the bottom of the mat to keep the sloped corners from separating where they join at a 45 degree.  Two-sided carpet tape also works well at keeping the leading edge of your mat down if you are in a hall with no carpet and you notice people are dislocating the standard edges by kicking them.

Wipe your mat down before the show, and every night at the end of the show so it will be clean at the start of each day.  We won't mention any specific brands, but many customers are reporting good results with the flat mops with the disposable damp pads to keep everything looking great for the duration of the show.

If you are not going to remove your mat from the box and clean it before the next show, wipe it down good and let it dry before putting it back in the box.  You won't appreciate any surprises at the next show.

You can spend hundreds of dollars on a molded plastic shipping container for your mats if you want, but we won't sell you one because they are more expensive than the mats themselves.  We do sell a collapsible bag with rigid front, back and bottom panels, a zippered closure and handles. Your FREE shipping container is show below.  It holds 100 square feet of mat with all borders - Enough for a 10 x 10 foot display. This is a high quality, export grade, double-wall (recycled) corrugated cardboard box. It can be economically shipped via FedEx or UPS, it can be put on a plane or loaded on a truck.  With liberal application of packing tape, this box can be re-used many times. You'd have to puncture the box to hurt the Wondermat inside (It's FOAM!), so all the box really does is keep your floor clean and in one place between uses.  One customer has told us they used the same cardboard (and taped) boxes for 26 shows in one year.
